How to Mix Your Desferal
14.
Find a spot on your abdomen, arm or leg (or any soft fleshy area) to insert
your needle. It is important that you rotate places you stick yourself so
that you give some time for bumps and rashed to heal. If you are using anesthetic
spray, spray on the site of infusion. Insert needle into skin.15. Securely tape the needle and tubing. Start pumping! If you have any questions about how to do your Desferal, contact your health care provider. Common Side Effects The area around the injection site may become red, itchy, swollen and painful. These 'bumps ' are normal and may take 3-7 days to go away. A warm towel can often relieve some of the pain and swelling from the "bumps." Your doctor may recommend another medication called Hydrocortisone which may relieve the itching. Please tell your doctor or nurse if one or more of these symptoms occur at the injection site.
Occasionally Desferal can cause serious side effects. If any of these symptoms occur, please stop the Desferal and call your doctor immediately.
Store in a safe place, away from direct light, small children and animals. If you notice any cracks in the bottle or discoloration of the medicine, do not use the medicine. Save the bottle and call your Desferal supplier. <back> |
